The product

What is Microsoft Copilot Studio?

Microsoft Copilot Studio is the Microsoft 365 build environment for creating, publishing and governing AI agents connected to enterprise data. You describe its role, its knowledge sources, its actions and its guardrails, then publish it to an audience identified in Microsoft Entra ID.

Those agents live in Microsoft Teams, in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, in SharePoint or on a web channel. They read your content through Microsoft Graph, SharePoint and Dataverse, trigger actions through connectors and Power Automate flows, and consume Copilot Studio credits on every interaction. The answer is grounded in your documents, not in a public corpus.

Microsoft Foundry is the Azure platform for building custom engine agents, with model choice and multi-agent orchestration. It takes over when the scenario goes beyond Copilot Studio: heavy retrieval, complex business logic, arbitration between models. The choice is made use case by use case.

More on the vocabulary: what is a Copilot agent and what is an AI agent.

The building blocks we assemble
  • Microsoft Copilot Studio: agent creation and publishing
  • Microsoft Foundry: custom engine agents and model choice
  • Microsoft Graph and SharePoint: the business knowledge
  • Dataverse, Dynamics 365 and Power Automate: the business actions
  • Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Purview: identity, permissions, labels
  • Agent 365: inventory, access and budget for your agents
The reality

Copilot Studio alone is not enough

The build environment is accessible, production is not. Three situations come back in every organization that calls us.

Licenses, a POC, no ROI
Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses, a convincing demo, but nothing in production and nothing to show the executive committee. License renewal arrives before the first proof of value.
Agents everywhere, nobody in control
Every team builds its own agents. Nobody knows who publishes what, on which data, or what credit consumption adds up to at the end of the quarter.
Generic answers for lack of integration
The agent answers beside the point because it is connected neither to the document repository, nor to the CRM, nor to the ticketing tool. Adoption is then counted in dozens of users instead of thousands.
What we build

Build an AI agent with Copilot Studio: six families of agents we put in production

A useful agent answers a precise process, with a named business owner. Six domains where our agents already run.

IT support
A level 1 agent that handles recurring requests, guides diagnosis, creates and tracks tickets in your ITSM.
Level 1 deflection, traceability in the ITSM
Human resources
An agent that handles leave, payroll and onboarding questions, with the data classification an HR topic requires.
France TV: 95% adoption, 7 months of HR work saved
Legal and compliance
A contract search and regulatory watch agent that absorbs the repetitive questions sent to legal and cites the source clause.
Generali: 40% fewer legal tickets
Healthcare
An agent for clinical and administrative teams: protocols and internal procedures, with a confidentiality framework fit for health data.
Compliance framework validated with your security teams
Research
A literature search and synthesis agent connected to internal corpora, with access controls per team.
Institut Curie: +2 hours per day per researcher
Sales and presales
An agent that assembles a commercial proposal from approved offers and documents, leaving the seller the judgment calls.
GroupeActive: a proposal written in two hours instead of a full day, 75% time saved

Architecture

Under the hood of a custom AI agent: what holds up in production

Five layers separate a demo from a service that passes the security review.

Knowledge and RAG on your content
The agent queries SharePoint and Microsoft Graph with the identity of the user asking the question, without copying your documents into a parallel index. We work on corpus quality, relevance thresholds and source citation.
Business connectors and actions
Dataverse, Dynamics 365, Power Automate, your ITSM and your HRIS: a useful agent creates a ticket, updates an opportunity, submits a leave request. Every action is scoped with its perimeter, its human validation and its execution log.
Multi-agent orchestration
In Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, users do not pick the right agent: an orchestration agent routes the request to the relevant HR, IT or legal agent.
Pro-code: Agent SDK, MCP and Microsoft Foundry
When the scenario outgrows Copilot Studio, our architects move to the Agent SDK, MCP servers and custom engine agents on Microsoft Foundry, with model choice: Mistral Large through Azure AI Foundry, Claude through the Anthropic API, with your explicit consent.
Security, traceability and governance
Microsoft Entra ID for identity, Microsoft Purview for sensitivity labels, logging of conversations and actions, usage and cost dashboards. The estate is run like an application estate: inventory, owners, lifecycle, budget.

Budget

How much does a Copilot Studio agent cost?

The price of an agent is not the price of the platform. The six lines we put on the table with your finance team.

How Microsoft bills usage

Copilot Studio agent usage is paid in credits, either consumed on demand as pay-as-you-go through an Azure subscription, or bought upfront as capacity packs. The volume depends on the type of action. Current amounts are on the Microsoft Copilot Studio pricing page, reviewed with you during scoping.

What a Microsoft 365 Copilot license changes

Users licensed for Microsoft 365 Copilot reach published agents from Copilot Chat and Microsoft Teams, as part of their license. Without a license, usage shifts to credit consumption. That arbitration is settled before development starts.

What Microsoft funds

The Microsoft Copilot Jumpstart program can fund up to 50 service days, and Witivio licenses are eligible for the Azure MACC scheme.

On the project side, a Copilot Factory scoping workshop starts at EUR 15,000, and the build is quoted at a fixed price once the scope is set.

The total cost of ownership of an agent
  • Credits and licenses: Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure resources for a Foundry agent
  • Design and build days: scoping, architecture, connections, testing
  • Maintenance and evolution: off-target answers, new sources, new use cases
  • Analytics: usage, quality and cost dashboards have to be built
  • Governance and compliance: inventory, access reviews, GDPR and AI Act file
  • Team enablement: skills transfer, champion network, change management

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Copilot Studio and Microsoft agents

Copilot Studio is subscribed separately from Microsoft 365 Copilot. Agent usage is billed in credits, as pay-as-you-go through an Azure subscription or as capacity packs bought upfront. With a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, your users find the agents in Copilot Chat and in Microsoft Teams. Witivio settles that choice with your IT department before the build.

The cost of an agent combines credits consumed, Microsoft licenses, design and development days, maintenance, analytics and governance. A Copilot Factory scoping workshop starts at EUR 15,000, and the Jumpstart program can fund up to 50 service days. Witivio issues a fixed-price quote after scoping.

Yes. An agent built on Copilot Studio queries SharePoint and Microsoft Graph with the identity of the user: each person only sees what they can already access. Witivio checks Microsoft Entra ID permissions and Microsoft Purview labels during scoping, before any go-live.

Agents are built inside your Microsoft 365 tenant and your data is not used to train any model. Witivio hosts its services in the EU and Switzerland and is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. The governance framework is validated with your DPO and your CISO, consistent with GDPR and the European AI Act.

Yes, through Microsoft Foundry. For a custom engine agent, the model is chosen scenario by scenario: Mistral through Azure AI Foundry, Claude through the Anthropic API, with your explicit consent. Witivio arbitrates between Copilot Studio and Foundry depending on how much control over the model you need.

Expect 2 to 4 weeks of scoping then 4 to 8 weeks of design and development: most organizations have a first agent in production in 6 to 12 weeks. Eligibility for the Microsoft Jumpstart program is confirmed within 24 hours and can fund part of those days.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the assistant shipped with your Microsoft 365 applications. Copilot Studio is the build environment for creating your own agents, connected to your data and your processes, then publishing them in Microsoft Teams and in Copilot Chat. Witivio works on both, from license adoption to agents in production.

That is often the right call, and it is our end goal: we transfer the skills. There are three cases. Without a development team and for standard support, AI Desk Pro deploys in 4 to 6 weeks. With Copilot licenses and a business integration need, we build with you on Copilot Studio. For a custom engine, we go through Microsoft Foundry.
